Biosketch

Prof.Dr.Michael Roden is Chair of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Heinrich-Heine University, Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital Düsseldorf and of the German Diabetes Center (DDZ). He was trained at University of Vienna and served as Max-Kade Fellow at Yale University. Dr.Roden contributed concepts to nutrient-induced insulin resistance and hepatic and muscle energy metabolism. He received the ESCI, Oskar-Minkowski and Somogyi awards, the Paul-Langerhans medal and honorary doctorates of the universities of Athens and Belgrade. Dr.Roden was representative of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) for the EASL-EASD-EASO guidelines on NAFLD.
