Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. On the molecular level it is characterized by aggregation of beta amyloid. Amyloid aggregation is already present up to 20 years before dementia onset and is also common in subjects with other types of dementia. In my lecture I will discuss the epidemiology and cognitive and imaging correlates of amyloid pathology as measured in CSF or on PET scans in non-demented (including monozygotic twins) and demented subjects.
